Act of 1963

Through the Act of 26 June 1963 “establishing an order of architects” a legal framework was created to organise the profession of architect.

Royal Decree of 2023

The Royal Decree of 19 January 2023 implements the Act of 26 June 1963, establishing an Order of architects.

Act of 1939

The Act of 20 February 1939 protects the 'title and profession of architect'. Through this protection the legislator in 1939 aimed to ensure that newly constructed buildings were compliant with the 'elementary rules of durability, hygiene and aesthetics'.

The Law Governing the 10-year Structural Warranty Obligation 

This Act of 31 May 2017 imposes on contractors, architects and other service providers in the construction industry (e.g. ground stability consultants) the obligation to ensure their 10-year liability in the case of residential construction. Ten-year liability can be invoked for errors or defects that endanger a structure's strength, stability or watertightness and are attributable to mistakes by contractors and other service providers (architects, engineering firms, etc.) during the performance of their tasks.

The Law Governing the Professional Indemnity Obligation 

This Act of 9 May 2019 compels all practitioners of intellectual professions in the construction industry (architects, engineers, land surveyors - experts, engineering firms, project managers, etc.) to insure their civil professional liability.
