Relocation and Cessation of Activities

What if I move to another province and intend to carry out most of my professional activities there? What if I want or need to end my activities as an architect?

Relocation

What if I move to another province and intend to carry out most of my professional activities there?

Moving to a Flemish Province

When moving to another Flemish province, you will need to request a relocation from your new provincial council. In the Brussels-Capital Region, you are free to choose between the provincial councils of Flemish Brabant & Brussels-Capital and Walloon Brabant & Brussels-Capital.

You may make your request by email. In this email you must provide two forms.
Go to contact details of the provincial councils.

Your new provincial council will inform your previous provincial council about the relocation.

On receipt of the forms, your relocation will be processed at the next council session.

Moving to a Walloon Province

The five Walloon provincial councils follow a different procedure than the five Flemish provincial councils. Please notify your current provincial council of your intentions. Your provincial council will transfer your file to the new provincial council in the Walloon Region, after which they will contact you for entry to their roll.

Cessation of Activities

What if I want or need to end my activities as an architect?

Removal of a Natural person

Are you retiring? Or have you decided to take your career along a different path and (for the time being) will no longer practise as an architect?

In this case, you will need to request that you be removed from the roll at your provincial council.

You can apply for removal by submitting the 'oath on removal from the roll' to your provincial council.

Oath on removal of a natural person (Dutch)

In this oath you affirm that, after removal, you will not undertake tasks set aside for an architect or put yourself forward as an architect. You may, of course, continue to use the title of your diploma.

You will also need to state your new professional activities. The provincial council will ascertain whether in fact in your new job you no longer undertake tasks set aside for an architect. If your professional activities are not entirely clear, the provincial council may request additional information.

Fee

The fee will be charged in proportion. Once you are removed, you will receive a credit note for the months in which you are not entered on the roll.

Removal of an Architectural Legal Entity

Are you winding up and liquidating your architectural legal entity? Or have the articles changed in such a way that they no longer refer to our profession?

In this case, you can request that the company be removed from the roll at your provincial council.

You can apply for removal by submitting the 'oath on removal from the roll' to your provincial council.

Oath on removal of an architectural legal entity (Dutch)

In this oath, you affirm that either the company has been wound up and liquidated, or the word 'architect' has been omitted from the company name and the company object has been altered in such a way that it no longer includes architectural practice.

Fee

The fee will be charged in proportion. Once the company has been removed, you will receive a credit note for the months in which the legal entity was not entered on the roll.
