Working as a Foreign Architect

(How) can I practise the profession of architect in Belgium as a foreigner?

There are four possibilities, depending on your origin and the frequency of the assignments you wish to carry out.

The European Economic Area (EEA) includes all countries of the European Union plus Lichtenstein, Norway and Iceland. 

You are considered a national of an EEA member state if you are a recognised refugee or a family member of a person with EEA nationality who is exercising their right to free movement of persons.

Third countries are taken to mean all countries outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland.

Application to Register With No Prior Formalities

I am a national of an EEA member state or Switzerland, I obtained my qualification there and wish to practise the profession of architect permanently.

Application to Register With Prior Formalities

I am a national of a third country or obtained my diploma in a third country and wish to practise the profession of architect permanently.

Application for Registration on the List of Service Providers

I am a national of an EEA member state or Switzerland and wish to practise the profession of architect temporarily and incidentally.

Application for Authorisation

I am a national of a third country and wish to practise the profession of architect temporarily and incidentally.
